Empowering Youth for Viet Nam’s Climate Transition | Trao quyền cho thanh niên trong tiến trình chuyển đổi khí hậu tại Việt Nam
Nhân dịp World Youth Skills Day, cùng nhìn lại buổi giới thiệu Lộ trình Hành động Khí hậu Youth4Climate giai đoạn 2026–2035, được tổ chức bởi UNDP Việt Nam và Nhóm Công tác Chính sách Khí hậu Youth4Climate (YPWG).
Ông Đào Mạnh Trí – Giám đốc CECCS – đã có bài phát biểu với vai trò tác giả chính của hai báo cáo do UNDP xuất bản: Future in the Making: Integrating Youth Perspectives in Viet Nam’s Just Energy Transition năm 2023 và Roadmap on Youth Engagement in Viet Nam’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) năm 2026.
Ông nhấn mạnh rằng việc trao quyền cho thanh niên trong hành động khí hậu không nên dừng lại ở việc tham vấn hoặc xây dựng tầm nhìn. Sự tham gia của người trẻ cần được hỗ trợ bằng những cơ chế khả thi, mối liên kết chính sách chặt chẽ hơn và các lộ trình rõ ràng để những sáng kiến do thanh niên dẫn dắt có thể tiếp cận tài chính khí hậu và các cơ chế thị trường. Với vai trò đồng sáng lập YPWG, ông đã dành nhiều thời gian dẫn dắt và đồng hành phát triển các sáng kiến khí hậu của thanh niên Việt Nam.
Tại sự kiện, các đại diện CECCS cũng có những trao đổi tích cực và chia sẻ về việc phát triển các hình thức đóng góp có cấu trúc và thực chất hơn cho thanh niên Việt Nam. YPWG trân trọng sự tham gia và những đóng góp mang tính xây dựng từ các đối tác, bao gồm DCC, Save the Children, British Council, WWF và các tổ chức phát triển khác. Những trao đổi này đã mở ra các cơ hội hợp tác ý nghĩa và tiếp tục khẳng định vai trò thiết yếu của thanh niên trong tiến trình chuyển đổi xanh và ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu tại Việt Nam.
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, we look back at the presentation of the Youth4Climate Action Roadmap 2026–2035, organised by UNDP Viet Nam and the Youth4Climate Policy Working Group (YPWG).
Credible climate action requires more than ambition — it requires practical mechanisms that enable young people to participate meaningfully in policymaking, climate finance, and implementation.
At the event, Mr. Dao Manh Tri, Director of CECCS, delivered remarks in his capacity as Lead Author of two UNDP publications: the 2023 report, Future in the Making: Integrating Youth Perspectives in Viet Nam’s Just Energy Transition, and the 2026 Roadmap on Youth Engagement in Viet Nam’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
His remarks underscored an important point: empowering young people in climate action should not stop at consultation or vision-setting. Youth participation must be supported by feasible engagement mechanisms, stronger policy linkages, and clearer pathways for youth-led initiatives to access climate finance and market-based mechanisms.
As a co-founder of YPWG, Mr. Tri has dedicated significant time to mentoring young climate actors and supporting the development of youth-led initiatives in Viet Nam.
CECCS representatives also engaged in productive discussions on how to create more structured, substantive, and sustained forms of participation for Vietnamese youth. These exchanges reflected the importance of connecting research, policy, finance, and implementation so that young people are recognised not only as beneficiaries, but also as contributors to evidence-based dialogue and long-term climate solutions.
YPWG greatly appreciates the engagement and constructive contributions of participating partners, including DCC, Save the Children, the British Council, WWF, and other development organisations.
The discussions opened meaningful opportunities for future collaboration and reaffirmed the essential role of young people in advancing Viet Nam’s green transition and climate response.
